Time for a Devlog!

Hello Friends, what do you say we talk Day 11?

The good news is that a lot of progress has been made. There is currently quite a lot going on during Day 11. However, i still have plans for quite a bit more. I'm not giving numbers of scenes because i would much rather people just play the game and see what happens than stress out about what they think they are missing. not everything that is of interest is sexual either.

I was initially going to do another video devlog rather than a written one, but i just don't have that much that i want to show off at this point. it's not that there isn't stuff to show you, i just think it's better for everyone if we just wait.

Here are a couple of things i will tell you. A couple of weeks ago, i handed a testbuild over to our wonderful testers and they tested the SHIT out of it! I would compare that testbuild to roughly the complexity of Day 2 in terms of puzzles and the amount of content. It was a very useful exercise. A lot of bugs were found that i've squashed. And it also gave me a lot of insight into where i needed to tighten up dialog/puzzles to make it as smooth as possible for actual release.

One of the other things that i took away from the testbuild was that i needed to do something to make the camera less of an issue. The Dean's Office building has some smaller rooms than the dorm does. Or at least it did. The most recent thing i've done is alter the building. So, just generally i increased the size of the entire building by 10%. Then I moved some walls around to give more breathing room to some of the smaller rooms to reduce the camera having to fight with those dang walls.

the Meeting room and Assistants Office both got upsized to make them easier to look around in

the Kitchen and Bathroom also got bigger, while the Break Area is a little smaller

Additionally, and this is a bit more of a prototype, i have pretty significantly increased the amount of adjustment you can do to the 3rd person camera. Allowing you zoom in quite a bit more and at a lower angle, and at the same time letting you take a steeper over the head angle as well. i do think this is better, but will give it to our testers next time we do a testbuild to see how much trouble this can cause. And i have not yet tested this new camera freedom in the dorm, where it is more likely to be a problem, so we'll see how this goes.

This is the prototype 3rd person camera which gives much closer looks and sits slightly over the right hand shoulder when in tight.

Beyond that the testbuild did reveal that, by and large, the puzzles are a pretty reasonable difficulty. And that on the  whole, Day 11 is pretty functional.

So where do things stand as of right now? Well, i have about half the animation done that i will need. And probably 80% the dialog/puzzle stuff i need.

Probably the biggest thing i need to resolve between now and the release of Day 11 is the Animation Mode. When i built it, i did not think about having more than one building to concern myself with. if you have unlocked some of the Bonus Content, you will probably have noticed that i just put those scenes inside the dorm for animation mode. i could also do that for scenes that happen at the Deans office, but i don't think i want to. i think i want have those scenes happen at the Deans office within animation mode. so... that's a challenge.

We are at least a month away, probably closer to 2 months from Day 11. i know that's not what anyone wants to hear (including me), but i think that's the reality.

all the same, hope you're having a wonderful 2023 so far, and we'll see you in the future
